Position Requirements:

Dispatches demand response, paratransit and fixed routes services. Responsible for communicating efficiently with drivers regarding their assigned route, bring resolution to driver incident and accident’s through radio communication. Have excellent interaction skills with seniors and people possessing varying disabilities. This position is safety sensitive thus is required to participate in the Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.

  2. General Responsibilities.

    An eligible candidate must possess the following minimum requirements:

    1. Dispatchers should provide courteous, professional service to all customers and drivers.
    2. Have excellent phone and radio etiquette in terms of clarity, pronunciation and proper use of grammar
    3. Be able to handle high volume radio communication in a timely manner.
    4. Maintain a professional attitude over the radio and proper use of radio codes
    5. Distribute manifests to drivers
    6. Maintain performance standards and on time compliance
    7. Review and prepare driver routes on a daily and weekly basis to insure on-time compliance and maintain performance standards
    8. Monitor trip reservations to prevent overbooking.
    9. Adjusts routes to ensure efficient service.
    10. Follow proper safety procedure and protocol when incidents and accidents occur.
    11. Ability to stay calm during difficult and stressful situations.
    12. Report customer complaints and concerns to management.
    13. Communicate to passengers when there is a delay in service and make accommodations to insure a successful resolution.
    14. Report and document delays when disruptions of service occur and inform management.
    15. Reassign driver routes due to call offs and when driver shortage occurs.
    16. Communicate vehicle defects and break downs with maintenance staff and management.
    17. Enroll new applicants for Dial a Ride services and answer questions regarding service.
    18. Handle difficult and irate callers.
    19. Knowledgeable of transit rider information for dial a ride and fixed route service.
    20. Software Proficiencies Required
    21. Email, Internet usage and Microsoft Office Applications

    23. Ability to handle stress and long hours
    24. Difficult/Irate callers
    25. Generally works inside air-conditioned office.
    26. May sit for 6+ hours a day.
    27. Uses computer keyboard and monitor for 6+ hours a day.
    28. High volume use of telephone and radio communication for 6+a day
    29. Creative thinking, problem solving, reasoning, and decision-making abilities and excellent interaction skills with customers
    30. Minimum Qualifications
    31. High School diploma/GED preferred,
    32. Ability to work with and communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively with the general public, drivers, supervisors and managers both written and verbally
    33. Ability to speak, read, and write efficiently
    34. Ability to read a map and geo-code addresses correctly
